This vintage is sourced 100% from Stonetree Vineyard (Wahluke Slope).
Grapes were handpicked on September 24. Following prompt delivery to the winery, the fruit was sorted by hand, de-stemmed, and placed into open-top fermenters.
After a passive soak, the grapes were inoculated with BRL 97 yeast on September 29. The resulting caps were punched down by hand on an as-needed basis (usually twice per day) until fermentation proceeded to dryness. On October 16, free run wine was placed into barrels and the remaining skins pressed. Total skin contact time was twenty-two days.
The wine was put into a mix of French and Hungarian oak barrels. No new barrels were used; all had been used for 2-10 previous vintages. The wine was bottled on August 19, 2013.
